For thousands of households across our region, accessing the right resources during tax season is critical in obtaining a full tax refund. The simple truth is that when taxes are done right, the result could mean valuable tax credits and refunds that go a long way in a family’s annual budget.
Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program– an IRS-supported tax preparation service– qualifying individuals and families can have their taxes prepared at no cost to them. In 2014, VITA volunteers filed more than 25,000 tax returns across the region, which returned more $36 million to local communities.
There are a number of VITA sites throughout southeastern Pennsylvania. To find the one nearest you, click here.
